The Mission of San Juan Capistrano
History
Pirate History
Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded on All Saints Day November 1, 1776 by Spanish Catholics of the Franciscan Order.
In 1818, pirate Hippolyte Bouchard raided departing four days later, after his crew - who found the mission's wine cellar almost immediately - had sobered up.
In a bit more decorous manner, the members of the Red Hat Society will invade in our own special way. Pirate garb is optional but it sure is fun!
