Nine Red Hat Society chapters loved the thrill of being spooked out touring haunted houses in Bayou country. The Gracefully Greying
(Minden, LA) members' hair almost turned white while hosting the tour of haunted antebellum homes in St. Francisville, Louisiana and Natchez,
Mississippi. Chapter queens and members hailed from Texas, Louisiana and even Washington State—some of whom claimed to have seen an
apparition or two. Southern style meals were prepared by gourmet chefs at several of the homes. Eat your heart out Scarlett!

Australia's first "Swan into Perth" National Convention drew local, interstate and overseas Red Hatters. Members from the UK and Canada
received prizes for
traveling the farthest to the "Down Under" continent. Some 350 Hatters marched in the parade while another 220 stayed
and played for the full convention. Several chapters performed skits vying for the "Swan Idol" trophy which was won by the Dinki Di
Divas of Perth with their performance of "IL DIVOs meet the ILL DIVAs!"
Kate Meredith, Princess Positive Elbow Rubber commented, "Led off by a police escort and the Wasamba Drumming Group and followed in the
rear by the Red Fire Engine carrying our 'needing some assistance' Red Hatters, several hundred banner-waving, beautifully gowned and
hatted ladies strutted their stuff up Barrack Street, the Murray Street Mall and into Forrest Chase. The looks on the faces of the
clapping, waving, grinning and photo-snapping onlookers alone was worth the journey."

Arkansas Governor Mike Huckaby proclaimed September 17 as Red Hat Society Day statewide. Members of the Absolutely Fabulously Friendly Little
Rockers (Little Rock), along with Ms. Arkansas Red Hat and Ms. Arkansas Pink Hat accepted the proclamation. Regional chapters celebrated
with small town parades, luncheons and dinners which one of the local television stations covered. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette published
a headline tribute to the Red Hat Society Day and Queen Ernestine "Pris" Price hoped to see the day also recognized in Hatquarters' Friday
Broadcast. "I swear my members don't think I send anything in!" No, Ernestine, we don’t have a circular file here with your name on it.

Nearly 1,000 Red Hatters gathered for the annual Tri-State Tea in Laughlin, Nevada. This year's theme was '50s Doo Wop. The DaffiDolls At
Our Peak (Lake Arrowhead/Crestline, CA) made purple poodle skirts with black felt 45 rpm records and music notes with red rhinestones.
They wore sweater sets, red or purple scarves, purple saddle shoes and 45 rpm earrings. The Hatters proudly paraded down the riverwalk.
The Queen of Merriment and Music, Queen Sharon and her Red Baron Dale stopped along the highway where people spell their names with
stones and left their mark in white rocks—Red Hatters Rule!

Some not-so-recent grads from the University of Michigan started a chapter that has grown to 25 members in just two years. Dubbed the
University Ladies of Valiant Exuberance (Trenton, MI), these "forever young college coeds" love reuniting for events as depicted in
these photos:
1) Motorcycle Mama Louise Quinlan and ladies at Julie Treves' cottage in the Irish Hills playing at the lake on every
mode of transportation with Queen Annette Marie Haley holding the red hat at the tail of the Hog!
2) Touring the Jiffy factory
3) Dinner at Andiamo Italia
