Fullerton, CA December 15, 2016 -- The Red Hat Society®, one of the world’s premier women’s organizations, has launched a new website platform offering private social networking capabilities providing an even richer online Member experience. The “Facebook-esque” platform offers Members the ability to speak directly with one another through advanced messaging capabilities, chat in a Members’ forum area, submit and view events happening in their local area, plan trips to meet Sisters around the world and so much more! Playing online will only enhance the play offline by fostering meaningful relationships with other Members through a technology designed to enhance their connections to one another and the Society as a whole. Queens (the leaders of local Chapters of the RHS) now have their own Chapter Group viewable only to their “Chapterettes” providing a private event calendar, chat area, document sharing, and event registration tools, in addition to bulk email and messaging capabilities.
With this new website launch, the Society takes its royal place alongside some of the world’s most powerful social networking sites. What makes The Red Hat Society’s online tool so unique is that the users are boomer women with an affinity to the RHS lifestyle of fun and friendship.
The Red Hat Society® began with the gift of a red hat and has grown into a universal symbol for women around the globe. The Red Hat Society® encourages women of any age to join (those under 50 wear pink hats until they “reduate,” while those over 50 wear red hats), emphasizing the value of cross-generational friendships and mentoring. The social message behind the first red hat has resonated with millions of women around the globe, regardless of race, creed, occupation, age, or socio-economic status.
By word of mouth, the purest form of viral marketing, The Red Hat Society® grew at a rapid pace thus garnering the Popular Culture and American Culture Association’s 2008 Award for its “Contribution to Popular Culture and American Culture.” The Society has been the focus of major publications, ten books (one of which reached the New York Times Best Seller list), television and other media, in addition to having The Red Hat Society brand appear on a myriad of products. Pop Culture status was truly achieved when The Red Hat Society® was the focus of an episode of the longest running animated series, THE SIMPSONS, in which Marge Simpson joins a local Red Hat Society® chapter.
CEO, Debra Granich states, “This new website tool was the natural ‘next step’ in our commitment to connecting like-minded women to new friends and enriching their lives through the power of fun and friendship. This advance in technology means women can join the Society and within minutes, be connected to other Hatters by geography or similar interests. We are committed to staying at the forefront of technology.”
