December Queen of the Month: Madeline Millet

Madeline Millet, our Queen of Hearts, was born in the picturesque town of Aibonito, Puerto Rico, and raised in New Jersey. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.

Madeline’s journey took a pivotal turn when she met her husband, Jorge, during a military training course. Initially, she was not fond of his constant joking, but that changed one evening at a dance. Accepting his invitation, she discovered his caring and serious side. That night marked the beginning of their love story, and they have now been married for 30 wonderful years—with Jorge still keeping her smiling with his jokes.

At the age of 19, Madeline joined the U.S. Army, dedicating 21 honorable years in service across the world, from Berlin and Panama to Puerto Rico and the U.S. mainland. Following her military career, she devoted another 13 years to the Federal Government before retiring. One of her most meaningful roles was serving in the Casualty and Mortuary Affairs section in Puerto Rico. There, she fulfilled the sacred duty of honoring fallen heroes and comforting their families, an experience that taught her the true meaning of empathy, strength, and heartfelt service.

Outside her professional life, Madeline enjoys dancing, exercising, and cherishing life’s simple moments. Her Red Hat Society journey began in February 2022, when a fellow veteran invited her to a gathering. She immediately felt the warmth, laughter, and sisterhood that are the hallmarks of this vibrant group. Through her involvement, Madeline finds joy in spreading positivity, connection, and inspiration among her fellow Queens and Red Hat sisters, always leading with love and laughter.

Madeline’s favorite motto is: “Have fun—life is too short!” One of her most memorable Red Hat Society events was her Coronation, made especially meaningful by having Debra Granich, the former RHS CEO, officiate. The ceremony was even more special with her military daughters escorting her, creating a deeply emotional and proud moment. Sharing this experience with her Red Hat sisters, and celebrating her chapter’s first anniversary—the Glamorous Ladies—added further joy and significance to the occasion.

Madeline’s guiding wisdom is simple: “Always do the right thing and be happy.” She believes happiness is contagious and that leading by example helps others discover joy as well. She is particularly proud to have founded the Veterans Red Hat chapter, The Glamorous Vets, which celebrates and embraces Veterans within the Red Hat Society. This chapter fosters a unique sisterhood built on strength, honor, and joy, showing that service, spirit, and sparkle truly go hand in hand.

Madeline is also honored to have been voted into a second term as the San Antonio Royal Loyal Communications Queen, a testament to her dedication and passion for the Red Hat sisterhood.
