Queen BJ Young: A Beacon of Joy and Sisterhood in Delaware
If you ask any of the ladies in Seaford, Delaware, or the surrounding towns of Dover and Salisbury, there's one name that always brings a smile — Queen BJ Young.
Crowned as June's Red Hat Society Queen of the Month, BJ has spent more than a decade turning gatherings into memories, and friendships into family. As the fearless leader of The Evening Primroses, BJ has led with heart, humor, and a sense of adventure that rivals any high-seas tale — quite fitting, since she also helms the beloved sister chapter, The Pirates of the Delaware Bay.
Both chapters proudly trace their roots to Lewes, Delaware, and their unique identities keep things delightfully fresh. One month, you might spot BJ in dazzling purple and red, toasting a celebration over coffee and conversation. The next, she could be in full pirate regalia, plotting fun with her swashbuckling sisters. It’s this kind of imaginative leadership that keeps her chapters thriving.
The Evening Primroses recently celebrated their 12th anniversary with a festive gathering at the Stargate Diner — a milestone that reflects not just time, but enduring connection. “We’ve built something truly special here,” BJ shares. “The women in this group come from near and far because they know it’s worth it. We laugh, we lift each other up, and we keep showing up.”
Members do indeed go the extra mile — literally. With ladies traveling from Dover, DE and Salisbury, MD, it’s clear that BJ’s warm and welcoming leadership creates a gravitational pull that keeps everyone coming back.
As a Red Hat Society Ambassador, BJ embodies everything the organization celebrates… friendship and fun! Her chapters are vibrant extensions of that mission. Whether it’s choosing unique meeting locations each month or hosting playful themed events, she makes every gathering an experience to remember.
But perhaps what sets BJ apart the most is her unwavering dedication. She’s built more than chapters, she’s cultivated joy, belonging, and a lasting legacy of love among her fellow Hatters. And for that, we raise our red hats high.
Cheers to Queen BJ…a true jewel of Delaware and a treasured sister in the Red Hat Society. May your reign be long, bold, and full of sparkle.
