Amy's career journey is as diverse as her travel experiences. With roles ranging from Therapy Tech to Hospital Buyer to Real Estate Broker, her most fulfilling work has been as a Recruiting Partner at Logan Health, a large hospital system in Montana, for the past eight years. Amy’s life is rich with family, too—she has three children, two grandchildren, and a supportive extended family. Her lighthearted humor shines through when she shares that, despite being married several times, she now "fosters men until they find their forever homes."
Her Red Hat Society Journey: From Craft Classes to Queen
Amy’s introduction to the Red Hat Society was serendipitous. Eight years ago, two Red Hatters attending her craft classes immediately sparked her interest. Drawn to their colorful outfits and energetic spirit, Amy quickly became part of the Red Hat world, attending her first holiday party dressed in a purple negligee, invited by none other than the Queen herself!
Her leadership journey blossomed at a summer tiki picnic when the chapter voted her as their next Queen. Surprised and honored, Amy embraced her new role with excitement. Now, as Queen of the Glacier Golden Girls, she takes pride in fostering joy and camaraderie among her fellow members. Her chapter is all about laughter and inclusiveness, and she works hard to create a welcoming environment for everyone.
Leading with Laughter: Amy's Chapter and Creative Touch
The Glacier Golden Girls meet for monthly luncheons, alternating between local restaurants and private events. A signature event is their Summer Garden Party potluck, held in Amy’s mother Harriett's beautiful garden. These gatherings are filled with joy, laughter, and amazing food—often catered by Amy and her talented mother. Birthdays are celebrated with personalized phone calls and, of course, a lively rendition of “Happy Birthday,” no matter the distance.
Amy’s creativity extends beyond the Red Hat gatherings. Along with her mother, she runs a cottage business, My Whimzy, which turns recycled and repurposed materials into artistic treasures. Whether it's working with barbed wire, painting, or creating multi-media masterpieces, Amy’s passion for art shines through in every piece. Her love for the arts also finds its way into her community as she teaches self-esteem-building activities at the local elementary school through theater.
A Queen’s Wisdom: Community and Connection
For Amy, the Red Hat Society is all about connection, support, and fun. She encourages others to embrace the society, join their local chapter, and step outside their comfort zone. “You’ll make lasting friendships and memories,” she shares, reflecting on how the sisterhood has enriched her life as a young 60-something.
Amy's advice is simple yet profound: “Smile, laugh, and share joy with others.” This philosophy guides her in both her leadership and personal life. With the Red Hat Society constantly evolving, Amy hopes to continue encouraging women to rediscover themselves and create lasting bonds within this supportive community.
Looking Ahead: A Royal Dream Event
If Queen Amy could create a dream Red Hat event, it would be a grand royal ball where every attendee is adorned with a crown, and everyone is addressed with royal titles. The evening would be filled with dancing, laughter, and celebration, a glamorous soirée befitting all the Queens in the room.
As Queen Amy continues to lead with love, creativity, and humor, she embodies the true spirit of the Red Hat Society—a community where women lift each other up, find joy in the present, and always, always laugh.
