Queen Shirlee Stories

Queen Shirlee Smith leads the Uptown Hatters of Chester, Virginia, bringing vibrant energy and joy to her chapter. As a devoted member of the Red Hat Society, Shirlee embodies the spirit of sisterhood, friendship, and fun that defines the group. Her leadership is marked by a welcoming presence and a knack for organizing memorable gatherings, where laughter and colorful hats abound. The Uptown Hatters, under her guidance, have become a close-knit community, cherishing every moment spent together whether at lively lunches, group outings, or themed celebrations. Shirlee is known for her infectious positivity and her ability to make everyone feel included and special. She encourages her fellow Hatters to embrace life’s joys and challenges with a smile, reminding them that happiness is best shared in good company. Queen Shirlee’s story is a testament to the power of friendship, community, and the enduring magic of the Red Hat Society.

In Additon to this 1 year anniversary party: Fourteen Red Hatters got together at a crafting place called, “O! So Chic,”on November 14th to create Christmas door signs. We couldn’t wear our Red hats while painting because we didn’t want them to get all dirty with paint and glue. But, we had an amazing time doing this craft while we sang Christmas Carols.

We celebrated a Happy Friendsgiving with all my Uptown Hatters! For our November Event on November 16th.  We stuffed ourselves at Tanglewood Ordinary Restaurant in Maidens, VA.

Fourteen Red Hatter ladies met and dined family-style, enjoying fried chicken, pot roast, ham, roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, stewed tomatoes, cornbread, and rolls!

We topped that off with Apple Cobbler!

Those who attended played a game of “Reveal” where each person wrote down something that no one knew about each other.

Prizes were awarded in gift cards and a Friendsgiving shot glass. Everyone said they loved the food and our time together.
