Theme of the Month: A Pink Revolution

“A Pink Revolution” is this month’s theme, and I find myself reflecting on what pink truly represents. To the world, pink is often seen as gentle, sweet, or delicate. But for women and especially for Hatters, pink is powerful. It is resilience disguised in pastel. It is courage expressed through compassion. It is softness that refuses to be dismissed.
When I think of revolutions, I think of movements, declarations, and bold actions. But revolutions can also be quiet. They can be healing. They can be the moment a woman looks at herself in the mirror after illness, heartbreak, or loss and chooses to keep living. They can be a hand reaching out. A laugh shared. A community built. A sisterhood formed.
Pink is a lighter, softer tint of red, while red is a primary color that is bolder and more intense. Pink is the color of survival, rebirth, and tenderness after hardship. It is the color of women who keep going. In each of our individual journeys through life, we become bolder and stronger as we stand together as sisters united.
The Red Hat Society is its own kind of revolution, a joyful rebellion against invisibility, loneliness, and the idea that growing older means fading. And in October, that revolution takes on a warm pink glow.
Our Society has always embraced the truth that women carry many layers. We are bold and soft, fierce and gentle, loud and quiet, silly and serious. Our revolution celebrates every part of that spectrum.
October is also a time to stand together in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and the fight against domestic violence. How fitting that our signature colors also represent these important causes. Pink and purple symbolize hope, healing, and strength, but also celebration and joy. They remind us of how far we’ve come and the journey still ahead. This October, we honor that journey together.
This year, during the 250th anniversary of American independence and our own 28th anniversary, pink becomes a reminder of the women who fought quietly behind the scenes throughout history. Women who held communities together. Women who nurtured, comforted, led, and advocated.
Women whose revolutions didn’t make headlines, but changed lives. Hatters carry that spirit forward.
Whether you are celebrating survivorship, honoring someone you’ve lost, supporting a sister who’s hurting, or simply reconnecting with your own heart, let this month be a celebration of all shades of strength.
Let it be soft.
Let it be bold.
Let it be joyful.
Let it be pink.
Wearing pink this month isn’t just a color choice. It is a declaration. A declaration of compassion. A declaration of solidarity. A declaration of sisterhood. A declaration of hope.
You are part of a revolution that believes fun is healing, friendship is sacred, and women deserve to be seen, celebrated, and supported.
This October, my dear sisters, I hope you feel wrapped in warmth by your chapters, by your community, and by this extraordinary sisterhood.
Pink is powerful.
Pink is revolutionary.
And so are you.
We are Stronger Together.
With Love,

Michelle Lee, Queen Plumerix
Red Hat Society President
